Tip #19: We are all meant to shine
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson – A Return to Love
I know when I feel inadequate and I also know when I feel so powerful beyond measure. I manifest that glory of God when I work with my heart, when I stand in front of a crowd and is authentic towards what I speak about, I shine when I see the best in those around me and work with others to make dreams come true.
Last week, I delivered a Self-Care workshop – “Me, Myself and I” to about 23 women. Each time I do one of those workshops, I feel enlightened. I feel that I can fly. I feel good. As I work with women and listen to their insights, voices, laughter, I feel even more inspired to give more of myself to my work. A few years ago, I performed “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelo at a cultural show, for this same organization. This was one of the most enlightened moments in my life – the inspiration mingled with my own authenticity and truth created a magical performance. When we do the work that speaks to our soul, it lifts us up and inspires those around us.
Why don’t we do more of what empowers us? Why do we play small? Why don’t we give God back the gifts that He has given us. Our gift are not to be hidden…we heal ourselves and others when we can take our gifts and give it back to the world. It multiplies a hundred fold.
Today, I want to remind myself and everyone who is reading this blog – not to play small. Let us use our gift to bring light into this world and light into the lives of those around us.
LookGood!!! FeelGood!!! by using our gifts to serve others.
